International Education Committee: Mission Statement (November 1, 1995)
The International Education Committee (IEC) invites honors students, faculty and directors to explore, discover and experience other peoples, their languages and cultures worldwide as an essential part of an honors curriculum. The Committee promotes and sponsors language study, study abroad, foreign student participation and efforts to internationalize the curriculum in honors education through NCHC meetings and publications. The IEC welcomes collaborative ventures with other standing committees to promote international education.
- Explore the development of a descriptive list of foreign experiences appropriate for honors students, through standard or electronic means.
- Develop a list of agencies, organizations, institutions willing to assist honors programs in creating and administering honors programs abroad.
- Develop contacts with organizations that regularly conduct or assist foreign study programs.
- Re-establish communication with other members of NCHC through the organization’s publications.
- Report the status and accomplishments of the committee in writing to the Board of Directors.
- Work to meet the goals and objectives of NCHC’s Mission Statement
