Committee Charge

The Nominating Committee shall consist of five members of the Executive Committee including the Immediate Past President who will act as chair.

The Nominating Committee shall:

  1. Arrange for the mailing of a call for nominations to the membership in time to prepare a slate of candidates, complete with brief resumes.
  2. Inform all candidates of the potential cost to serve on the Executive Committee or as an officer of the NCHC. Secure a statement in writing from directors of honors programs guaranteeing that if their student candidate wins the election, the honors program will underwrite the student’s costs.
  3. Secure a suitable roster of candidates for the position of NCHC Vice President as well as the four (4) faculty positions and the three (3) student positions on the Board of Directors.
  4. In making its nominations, the committee shall:
    1. Consider the experience and qualifications of nominees.
    2. Consider their geographic distribution as well as the type of institutions represented in NCHC membership.
    3. Seek candidates who have the interest to sustain the responsibilities of the position.
    4. Provide the opportunity for members to make other nominations from the floor at the annual business meeting.
  5. The Chair of the Nominating Committee shall prepare information about the candidates which will accompany the ballots and submit it to the Executive Secretary/Treasurer immediately following the annual meeting.
  6. The Nominating Committee shall also solicit applications for appointments to NCHC Committees.
    1. The Committee shall present a list of candidates for chairs and members to the President Elect no later than July 15 preceding the conference during which these appointments will take effect.
    2. The President Elect must forward these recommendations to the President no later than August 15 of the same year.
    3. The President will appoint all committee chairs and members no later than September 15 preceding the conference at which they take effect.
  7. Report to the Executive Committee during its spring meeting the list of candidates.
  8. Work to meet the goals and objectives of NCHC’s Mission Statement.
