On the Role of the Site Visitor as Consultants & Program Reviewers
Kathy Lyon, Honors Program Director, Winthrop University
The role of an NCHC site visitor is to aid an Honors Program or College Director or Dean requesting the evaluation process to assess the existing program using NCHC’s Basic Characteristics of a Fully Developed Honors Program or NCHC’s Basic Characteristics of a Fully Developed Honors College. The site visitor should meet with all appropriate parties involved in honors education at the institution including, but not limited to, the president, provost/vice president, deans, directors, faculty, admissions office and students during the evaluation and assessment process. Where appropriate the site visitor will make recommendations to that Director or Dean and higher administration of the institution to see that that Honors Program or College offers the best honors education possible for its honors student. The role of the site visitor as a representative of NCHC is to act professionally, wisely, thoroughly and timely in providing the requesting institution with a valid evaluation.
