On the Role of the Site Visitor as Consultants & Program Reviewers
Rosalie Otero, Director, University Honors Program,
University of New Mexico
I think that the role of a consultant or site reviewer is primarily to promote, support and assist. As an NCHC-recommended site visitor, I am primarily interested in enhancing and strengthening Honors Programs and Honors Colleges across the country. I am interested in examining an Honors Program or College from the perspective of the best practices developed by the National Collegiate Honors Council and as they relate to the individual institution. I try to provide a national perspective based on my experience of twenty years in NCHC including a term as President (2001-2002), as a past co-chair of the Assessment and Evaluation Committee, and as co-author of the NCHC publication, Assessing and Evaluating Honors Programs and Honors Colleges: A Practical Handbook.
