On the Role of the Site Visitor as Consultants & Program Reviewers

NCHC Site Visitors can provide advice and  resources developed through many years of assessment and evaluation discussions which have enriched our national honors organization.  Many of us have broad experience with many types of institutions, and those involved with our training institutes have discovered that honors must be evaluated in the context of local institution’s mission and heritage.  I believe honors consultants and site visitors should be focused on helping improve honors programs through careful review of local history, needs, and opportunities.  External reviewers can often offer new perspectives and help those on campus gain insight about how their program can serve students, faculty, and other constituents more effectively.  Given access to publications, records, participants, alumni, and administrators such visitors can enhance what is already happening in an honors program.
