Lynn Preston, PhD, from Tarrant County Community College, has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the NCHC Board of Directors.

An active member of both the NCHC and the Great Plains Honors Council, Preston and her students regularly attend both regional and national events. She currently serves as the co-chair of the NCHC’s Professional Development Committee, and was a facilitator of the NCHC New Directors Institute in both 2016 and 2017.

As a candidate for the NCHC board in 2016, Preston said, “I hope to bring to the NCHC Board of Directors my leadership experience and a true passion for the two year college honors program, as well as my sincere interest in helping in as many aspects as I can with NCHC.”

Preston is a professor of biology, and for 8 years has been the director of Cornerstone Honors Program at Tarrant County Community College in Fort Worth, Texas. She has served on numerous campus-wide and district-wide committees at Tarrant County Community College, and also as a mentor and liaison for honors across their multi-campus system.

The board position had previously been filled by Leslie Sargent Jones, who resigned from the NCHC Board following her retirement from Appalachian State University. Preston will carry out the remainder of Jones’ term, ending in the fall of 2018.

We welcome Lynn Preston as the newest member of the NCHC’s Board of Directors, and look forward to her presence and contributions.

The National Collegiate Honors Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to support and enhance the community of educational institutions, professionals, and students who participate in collegiate honors education around the world. Headquartered on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, the NCHC provides publications, faculty trainings, an annual professional conference, and networking opportunities to its members, as well as experiential travel programs and honors student scholarships.
