Institute Focus:
The inaugural Honors Enrollment Management Institute provides resources to honors deans, directors, and other administrative staff related to honors student recruitment, admissions, and orientation practices. Student recruitment and marketing, as well as philosophical and practical approaches to honors admissions and orientation, will be highlighted.

- Develop a strategic enrollment management plan for your honors program / college
- Identify strategies to recruit, admit, and yield a diverse student population
- Recommend promising / best practices for honors enrollment management

Facilitators
Melissa Johnson, University of Florida
Admissions, recruitment, and social media / communications are all part of Melissa’s portfolio as associate director of the University of Florida Honors Program. In 2017, she managed more than 3000 applications for the program through two holistic admissions cycles. Melissa also trains and oversees the cadre of student peer evaluators who assist with the application review, a unique aspect of the UF Honors admissions process. She is a current member of the NCHC Board of Directors, as well as co-chair of the Professional Development Committee, program reviewer, and coordinator of the Professional Staff in Honors track for the Boston 2018 conference. Melissa is a former directorate board member of the Commission for Admissions, Orientation, and First Year Experience through College Student Educators International (ACPA) and has a professional background in orientation, advising, and first year experience in addition to her work in honors.
Aaron Hanlin, Seminole State College
Aaron Hanlin is currently director of the Grindle Honors Institute at Seminole State College of Florida where he is responsible for strategic planning, enrollment goals, recruiting strategies, and program admission. He was previously director of admissions and scholarships with the Kent State University Honors College where he recruited both the largest and highest-achieving freshmen classes in its history and additionally oversee the College’s marketing and communication efforts. Aaron is the immediate past-president of the Mid-East Honors Association (MEHA) and a professional member of NCHC. He has served on several Developing in Honors (DIH) panels related to admissions and has a professional background that includes advising, orientation, and scholarship administration.
Venue:
The institute will take place at the Orlando Airport Marriott Lakeside. Rooms are available for registrants to reserve at a negotiated event rate. These reservations are limited, and available on a first-come/first-served basis. NCHC will not provide any other lodging opportunity for this institute. Our negotiated nightly rate for this hotel is $135/night (plus taxes and fees) and each participant is responsible to pay for his/her own lodging. The cutoff date to book your hotel room here is May 18th.

The hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle from the Orlando International Airport (MCO), as well as other amenities. As a institute participant, you will also be provided with both complimentary breakfast and lunch on Monday June 4th and Tuesday June 5th.

Refunds
All requests for refunds MUST be submitted in writing to the national office and RECEIVED no later than thirty days in advance of the trip departure date.
- Received prior to 30 days before trip departure: Full refund, less a $50 per person administrative fee
- Received within 30 days before trip departure: No refunds granted
