Affiliating yourself with your institution
If you are not the director of your program, or you do not hold a current NCHC Institutional or Professional Membership, and/or have not attended an NCHC program in the past year, you may not be in our new software system yet!
You must sign up as a "Contact" prior to registering for any NCHC program.
Sign up as a Contact!
Be sure to select “Contact” when creating a username for our website. If your institution has an Institutional Membership, signing up as a "Contact" will affiliate you with your institution, and you'll be able to register for the online event, and make use of the NCHC community forums. If you sign up for any membership aside from "Contact," you will be asked to pay for that membership fee.
You'll receive an email notification, and THEN you may start registration for the intended online event.
(If your institution is not a member of NCHC, please proceed as a "Guest.")
Questions? Contact the NCHC office at (402) 472-9150 or nchc@unl.edu.
Career Pathways and Acadia Views, organized by Ranger Kate Petrie
With the cancellation of projects for 2020 and 2021, the NCHC Partners in the Parks Committee wants to ensure that we create alternatives to projects to continue to foster these meaningful collaborations with NPS to benefit students from NCHC member institutions. From undergraduate student to institutional administration, all with an interest in adventure are welcome to join for these monthly meetings. Join us in July – one of the busiest months of the year at Acadia National Park (https://www.nps.gov/acad/index.htm). Enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean as it crashes against the amazing natural landscape of the rugged coast of Maine and many other scenic opportunities Acadia offers. Discuss circuitous career pathways to jobs in America’s back yard.
Facilitator
Kathleen King | Hillsborough Community College Kathleen was sold on the idea of Partners in the Parks when she first heard Partners in the Parks described by founder, Joan Digby. As Dr. Digby explains in, PARTNERS IN THE PARKS Field Guide to an Experiential Program in the National Parks “…the immediate purpose of Partners in the Parks is bringing together member institutions of NCHC in a student/faculty program to educate, to engage, and to urge stewardship of these special places (2010, p.21).” Kathleen coordinated her first project in 2008, ultimately hosting a total of seven projects, 4 for students and 3 retreats for directors in Acadia, Rocky Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains, and Everglades. Kathleen has served as Director of the Dr. Lydia R. Daniel Honors Program, at Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Florida for seven years.
