MASTER CLASS AT A GLANCE

This NCHC Master Class will provide an opportunity for faculty with prior City as Text™ experiences (through an NCHC Faculty Institute or its national conference) to engage in an intensive exploration of Chicago prior to the 2023 National Conference. The “Windy City” is the third largest city in the country with a history that reflects layers of immigration, industry, transportation and innovation. The “Uncovering Chicago” Master Class will provide participants an opportunity to explore the city’s diverse neighborhoods, landmarks, and public spaces as they engage in principles of site-based experiential learning with the intent of taking home a deeper understanding of City as Text™ pedagogy as well as developed ideas for course- and program-level applications.

Participants who attend the NCHC National Conference may choose to complete optional explorations on Wednesday as well as participate in facilitating the City as Text™ Signature Event on Thursday.
