The Nexus of Honors, Faculty Development, and Centers for Teaching and Learning Engaging in honors education is a powerful form of faculty development for teachers and scholars seeking ways to enhance their professional careers. Honors promotes and supports innovative pedagogies that improve teaching, provides avenues for interdisciplinary scholarship and publications, and welcomes faculty into a dynamic and creative community focused on excellence. Faculty development programs and centers for teaching and learning are dedicated to the same mission and goals, making such units perfect partners in nurturing the professional advancement of faculty, a nexus that benefits any institution and, ultimately, all students. This Honors Communities of Practice session will highlight a forthcoming NCHC monograph on the subject, with authors of different chapters leading breakout conversations on selected topics. - Victoria Bryan, University Tennessee Chattanooga, editor
- John Zubizarreta, Columbia College, editor
- Heidi Appel, University of Houston (“Honors Collaborative”)
- Joy Hart, University of Louisville (“Hacking Silos”)
- Rebecca Bott-Knutson, South Dakota State University (“Honors Community of Practice”)
- Chelsea Redger-Marquardt, Witchita State University (“Honors Faculty Growth through Peer-to-Peer Learning”)
- Megan McIlreavy and Pam Martin, Coastal Carolina University (“Classrooms to Community: UN Sustainable Development Goals in Honors”)
