Articulation Agreement Workshop

This workshop will address a crucial aspect of honors education: transfer articulation. Led by experts from both two-year and four-year programs, participants will draft Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to support seamless transitions for community college honors students. This workshop highlights NCHC's dedication to helping our members in this area, as evidenced by the Ad Hoc Committee on Transfer Articulation's collection of MOUs from diverse institutions. Join us to learn from these experts and engage in practical exercises to foster collaboration and create pathways for student success, regardless of your institution's type.

Beginning in Honors is a workshop designed for new honors leaders (i.e. honors directors, deans or associate/assistant directors or deans) , honors professional staff, or those leading the efforts to create new honors programs or colleges. This workshop begins in a large group, and then breaks out to focus upon specific institutional types -- large universities; medium-sized institutions; small public, private, and faith-based colleges; and two-year institutions as well as roles within them---honors advisors, national fellowship coordinators, etc.

Celebrate #NCHC24 by exploring the streets of Kansas City! An NCHC signature event for decades, City As Text™ (CAT) positions honors students, staff, and faculty as explorers in the city. Participants will seek to more deeply understand the conference theme, ‘Harmonizing Heritage,’ through conversations and observations in Kansas City neighborhoods, public spaces, and cultural landmarks. The CAT experience includes an opening session, city exploration, breakouts for writing and observations, and a group closing session.

No additional fee. Indicate your interest in being a CAT explorer by registering for the event on this form. When you arrive at the event, you will select your individual site.

Wed. 10/30 | Pre-Conference Workshop: International Education 101 (Additional Fee)

International study stands as a proven high impact practice. Running sustained short-term experiences for groups of students can help institutionalize international experiences within honors.

This per-conference three-hour workshop is designed to provide participants with collaborative time to explore issues in launching and sustaining international programming within the honors experience. We focus on two critical components of international study which are far too often overlooked: a) per-program planning and b) post-program opportunities for participants in international study to "keep the program alive" by sharing their experiences and applying lessons learned within the context of the campus and community.

This pre-conference workshop is limited to 24 participants. Session Fee: $50
