From the Co-Chairs of the Place as Text Committee

The Place as Text Committee oversees the development of Faculty Institutes focused on introducing honors faculty and staff to Place as Text/City as Text pedagogy.

The committee also designs and implements pre-conference master classes for NCHC members. Those new to Place as Text can enroll in an Introduction to Place as Text masterclass, while those looking to dive deeper after completion of a Faculty Institute can join an Advanced Place as Text Master Class.

Student-specific offerings include Civic Seminars at sites like the Chesapeake Bay, and semesters in partnership with universities like Northern Arizona.

The co-chairs welcome inquiries from NCHC members interested in Place as Text, City as Text, and place-based learning.
