Freddye T. Davy Scholarship

On behalf of NCHC and in honor of Dr. Freddye T. Davy, the Diversity Committee is pleased to offer the Freddye T. Davy Student Scholarship to help students attend the NCHC Annual Conference. We trust that the Freddye T. Davy Scholarship represents an important step in ensuring that deserving, underserved students get the quality academic experience needed to address and encourage their participation in both their educational communities and in the communities they will be part of long after graduation.

Dr. Davy served as the Honors Director at Hampton University until her passing in 2012. Among her many distinctions, she was the founder and executive director of the National W. E. B. Du Bois Honor Society and an active member of the National Association of African American Honors Programs. Dr. Davy was recognized in 2012 by the National Collegiate Honors Council as an NCHC Fellow.

To honor her memory, four qualified students, nominated by the Directors of their honors program or college and selected by the NCHC Diversity committee, will receive $1,000 scholarships to aid in registration, hotel, and travel costs to attend the NCHC Annual Conference (payments and awards will be disbursed at the Conference). Preference will be given to minority applicants.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must be enrolled in a member institution and pursuing an undergraduate degree. Applications should include estimated costs to attend the NCHC24 Conference, details about service and diversity-related inclusion efforts or projects, and the Freddye T. Davy Scholarship Reference Form.

Applications open annually on April 1 and close on June 16.
